Ever wanted to be the owner of a great playing gold mounted violin bow? Have you been looking for a 4-5K violin bow? I call this bow a sleeper. A great playing stick for not a lot of money. This bow was played on by a New York State violin teacher for half a century. The wood is choice, tight grain pernambuco specie and it is round in section. The ebony frog is mounted in gold and the end screw is a three-piece gold button. The winding is completed in sterling silver. The bow’s winding was changed to enhance the balance of the bow long before I acquired the bow in November of 2003. I’ve worked on the stick three or four times in the last 20 years, replacing the tip, restoring the ebony frog, and replacing the leather thumb grip. The frog is now in good condition and has natural playing wear and one restored bottom edge. The one visible area of the lining that lays slightly askew I chose to just leave. This is nothing structural or anything that impedes playability. The restoration on the bottom edge of the frog is slightly visible and I stand behind the repair 100%. The bow was filed into a box back in 2003 and is finally seeing the light, now ready for purchase. The bow is firm in its make-up and plays well. This stick has it! Great playability, even at a slightly heavier gram weight. Hopefully it will make your violin jump.

New European handmade gold mounted bows in our current market sell for $3900-$4500 at a minimum to start. The bow has excellent playability, flex, and firmness. This is a very good no name sleeper stick with 14-kt gold on the frog valued at $400 gram weight. Don’t be afraid to give this bow a try. It is fantastic.
