Founded in the United States in 2004, L’Archet Brasil had a mission to distribute bows made by skilled luthiers in Brazil. The business model was that L’Archet would distribute the bows in the U.S. and the bowmakers would retain their independence. L’Archet has since expanded to Europe and Japan. In Portugal, they have five bowmakers and three apprentices.
The bow was handmade in Portugal for J.R. Judd Violins and is round-section, pernambuco, and mounted in sterling silver with silver winding. The blind ebony frog is the mark of a Dodd style frog; this frog is fully-lined with mother-of-pearl. The finishing touches on the bow are a leather thumb grip, imitation ivory tip, and three-piece silver and ebony adjuster.
