Conrad Götz Sterling Cello Bow- Erlangen, Germany circa 1940
$1,500.00
Stamped:
GERMANY- on the butt of the bow
This Götz three-star cello bow is a professional level bow. The bow shows slight signs of natural wear on the frog end of the stick where the player holds the bow. We have meticulously gone over the entire bow, and it is in very good condition. The fittings are original, and I have cut new goat leathers for the thumb and capture. The ebony frog is Parisian eye accented with beautiful mother-of-pearl slide and eyes. This choice pernambuco cello bow is mounted in sterling silver and is octagonal section. The bow is firm and plays very well.
The Götz shop survived two world wars and has been family owned since 1884. The Götz Music Instrument Co. is in the university town of Erlangen, Germany, situated less than 30 miles from Bubenreuth, one of the great instrument making villages of Europe. Conrad had many fine instruments and bows made in that small town that eventually helped make his name and music company known all over the world.
The Götz stamp is on the player’s side and the bow has the Götz logo on the players side of the frog. The three-piece endscrew completes the bow. This is a fine playing bow for a serious player.
