Oskar C. Meinel Violin Bow Markneukirchen circa 1940
$795.00
Stamped:
We have a nickel mounted Oskar Meinel violin bow. The Meinel name was a trade name used by the Ernst Heinrich Roth firm based in Markneukirchen, Germany. One of the most prolific of the Markneukirchen workshops, the firm of Ernst Heinrich Roth produced an enormous number of consistently high quality instruments and bows to complete their outfits in the 20th century. Roth, the son of a violin maker, started his workshop in 1902. The firm represented their instruments well and insisted on representing their instruments and bows as German at a time where many shops used French or Italian names on their labels and stamps to remain afloat. The Roth firm used at least 14 different names to market their instruments and bows. The shop is currently run by Ernst Heinrich Roth III and Wilhelm Roth.
Our bow is pernambuco specie, round in section, and nickel silver mounted. The frog is fully-lined and has a three-piece endscrew. It is a great bread & butter violin bow with good bones. The bow will make a nice stick for the player looking to get into an older pernambuco German made bow.
