Founded in the United States in 2004, L’Archet Brasil had a mission to distribute bows made by skilled luthiers in Brazil. The business model was that L’Archet would distribute the bows in the U.S. and the bowmakers would retain their independence. L’Archet has since expanded to Europe and Japan. In Portugal, they have five bowmakers and three apprentices.

The bow was handmade in Portugal for J.R. Judd Violins and is round-section, pernambuco, and mounted in sterling silver with silver winding. The ebony frog features large mother-of-pearl eyes surrounded by thin sterling silver rings. The frog lining has a mother-of-pearl insert that matches the slide. The bow is finished with a leather thumb grip, imitation ivory tip, and the adjuster is octagonal silver with mother-of-pearl facets.
