EMILE DUPREE
FRANCE – butt end of the stick

We have a good 20th century violin bow, pernambuco specie, in very good condition. The “Emile Dupree” name was a trade name used to sell bows before and after the Second World War. The stick shows the origin helping us to date the bow prior to World War II and made in France. The bow is finished off in nickel mounts and was made for the Metropolitan Music Co. to be sold in America. Bows that were not branded with FRANCE on the butt end of the bow were made in Germany. We replaced the winding and the thumb leather. The bow is round in section, nickel mounted, Parisian eye frog, fully lined, beautiful color in the mother-of-pearl, and with a three-piece endscrew. This will make a great bow for the player looking for pernambuco. Yes, an entry-level pernambuco bow that plays well. The stick is light in weight, firm in its playability, and has a camber that happens quickly after the head.
