EDW. HERRMANN** GERMAN – Sterling Silver Viola Bow – Gorgeous – “This bow was featured in the July 2021 issue of the STRAD Magazine”
$2,200.00
We have a special viola bow made by bow maker Edwin Otto Herrmann (1893-1972) of Markneukirchen, Germany. He came from a large family of instrument and bow makers. This dynasty goes back six generations in the Vogtland region of German, beginning back in 1760's. Edwin Otto was active in bow making from the 1920's to the end of his life.
The bow is stamped on the players side “EDW. HERRMANN**” It is of pernambuco specie, octagonal section, silver winding with leather grip. The frog is silver mounted with the eyes in the frog made out of sterling silver instead of the usual mother-of-pearl. I have only seen sterling silver eyes 4 or 5 times in a nice bow. The frog is fully lined, and the entire bow is in excellent condition.
